Hati merupakan organ parenkim terbesar yang sering terlibat akibat penyakit sistemik.
Pada beberapa penyakit sistemik, hati dapat lebih bertahan dibanding organ tubuh
lainnya. Dalam mengevaluasi pasien dengan disfungsi dan penyakit sistemik, klinisi
harus dapat membedakan apakah gangguan hati yang terjadi akibat penyakit sistemik,
akibat obat yang digunakan dalam terapi penyakit sistemik tersebut ataupun bersamaan
dengan penyakit hati primer
